I am Yvonne David and I love baking!
One of my favourite subjects at school was art. I have found that baking cakes gives me the opportunity to use my creative skills and I have been told that my cakes are 'edible works of art' which is such a wonderful compliment.
My style is simple and elegant, yet with a stunning finish.
I make a wide variety of cakes for all events and occasions...
Birthdays
Weddings
Christenings
Corporate and logos
Product promotions
...and much more besides.
I made cupcakes with edible images (of Mrs Dwina Gibb's illustrations from her book 'Starchild') for the 'Splash of Pink' charity event in 2010, attended by a number of high-profile celebrities. I was asked to make them again as gifts for some of Dwina's friends in 2011. I also created a cake for Jimmy Choo OBE of Jimmy Choo Couture for an exclusive meal celebrating his birthday.
Above are a small selection of cakes that I have made for clients. From top-left to bottom-right, the Playing Card cake, baby blue cupcakes, the winter wonderland cupcake bouquet, one of Dwina Gibb's personalised cupcakes in a presentation box, the chocolate flake cupcakes, the Tommy Cooper cake, the Graduation cake, the Jimmy Choo cake, the n-dubz cake and Sam and Cyrus's Asian-inspired wedding cake. I was asked by Shakira to create a two-tier black and white themed birthday cake with mini cupcakes.
My bespoke creation included:-
Handmade edible sugar roses and leaves, butterflies, blossoms and numerals,
Black feathers with diamontes,
An embossed design on both tiers,
Diamonte chains.
The birthday cake is a double chocolate cake with a rich chocolate butter filling and the cupcakes are a vanilla sponge piped with a vanilla buttercream. |

Engagement cake, complete with presentation ring box detail. |
|
I was asked to create a cake to celebrate Justine and Rennie's engagement in September 2011.
The cake was an absolute delight to create, as it included the presentation ring box detail.
This is undoubtedly one of the most original cakes I have had the pleasure of presenting and I hope you will agree! |

My new cupcake bouquet. |
|
As part of my drive to create original and exciting designs that will provide that much sought-after wow-factor, I have created this cupcake bouquet which was part of a high-street shop display at the Thame Carnival on 18th June 2011.
The new design has been received well and I have already received orders for variations of the bouquet.

Mum loved them. x"
"Hi Yvonne, thank you so much for an excellent job.
You did us proud - Great stuff!"
"We were delighted to receive the beautiful cake that you designed and made for a Hello! photoshoot in the lead up to the Royal Wedding.
Prince William chose Centrepoint to be the first charity he became patron of and his patronage has helped more people become aware of youth homelessness. We are so grateful when the public is moved to help os make a difference to the lives of homeless young people after hearing about Centrepoint's connection to Prince William, and were especially so when you kindly donated your cake.
It was divided up and given to three of our services in Soho, where Centrepoint was founded over 40 years ago, to ensure a large number of the homeless young people we support were able to enjoy it. The feedback was fantastic. Everyone was impressed by its elegance and taste.
The staff and young people were delighted to be able to use this as an opportunity to come together to celebrate the wedding of our Patron, Prince William, to Catherine Middleton and have asked me to pass on their thanks to you."
"There are cakes. And there are Yvonne David's edible works of art. The first time I saw them was at Robin and Dwina Gibb's Splash of Pink party, in my capacity as a journalist for HELLO! magazine. Topped with miniature versions of Dwina's beautiful Starchild illustrations, these confections were - if you'll excuse the pun - the icing on the cake when it came to our individual table settings. In fact, they looked so gorgeous in their shiny pink cases that, I must admit, I couldn't bring myself to destroy them by eating them.
Completely by chance, I encountered Yvonne's cakes again, at Jimmy Choo's birthday party a few weeks later. His exquisite birthday cake, with an icing sugar photo of him on top, graced the table, surrounded by the individual cup cakes with an iced Jimmy Choo logo on top. This time, I didn't hold back. With its cream and jam filling, the birthday sponge tasted as delicious as it looked, and the cup cakes were phenomenal.
Thank you, Yvonne. Was it Marie-Antoinette who said, 'Let them eat cake'? She must have been talking about yours!"
